The excellent pace of work and construction continued on the third day of assembly: the entire ceiling of the ground floor was completed, the floor of the basement was equipped with footstep sound insulation, and the rear panel of the first floor was erected. The house has been manufactured at Sohm very accurately so that all parts can be fitted into one another precisely and with the greatest ease. The rest of the construction will be completed by the competent team from Sohm, supported by members of staff from the local timber construction company Matheo Dürfeld. Each and every little detail will be taken care of attentively and completed in a workmanlike fashion.
It’s not only the building of the Austria House that advances rapidly, but also knowledge of the execution of this remarkable project. It has been necessary to buy more protective helmets to allow the many visitors a brief opportunity to access the construction site. Press, local companies, architects and civil engineering students from the University of British Columbia listened closely to the explanations about solid wood passive house construction and, with great appreciation, inspected the high quality of the materials used.
